About
Our non-profit Internet café specialises in the usage, distribution, training and technical support for open sourcesoftware. All profits derived from the services will be used to setup new open cafes and open source school-labs.
Through running projects like ArtMarketOnline, Ples and Django ( and the café itself ) we demonstrate the practical and hands-on use of Linux and applications like Mozilla FireFox, OpenOffice.org , The Gimp and many other great applications.
Apart from demonstrating the many practical uses of open source tools we also put great emphasis on introducing teachers, students, artists and everyone else to the use of the immense databases of freely available high quality content like the Wikipedia or Internet Archive. As a part of this project all our visitors will be able to learn all about the process of publishing their work in these databases under the appropriate license.
The OpenCafé project was initiated by Reedflute Software Solutions and is supported by the Shuttleworth Foundation.
We plan to run our projects “open source style” everyone is
welcome to contribute and add to them.
