Even though the cafe seems more quiet - we are always working on things - and we will post developments as soon as there is news.
The great news is - recently Thabo contacted us - he asked for some support to help market his group, the Heralds. They are a group of singers from Potchefstroom - we will soon be posting more info about them as soon as their online material is ready.
We are helping them weekly with creating online presence, website, and other online tools like working with Myspace and Facebook, Last.fm, Flickr, Twitter and other sites to create an online community around their music.
You can already visit their new Myspace page to listen to some of their songs at :
http://www.myspace.com/theheraldssouthafrica
We will keep you posted about their progress.

Our cafe is almost 2 years old - which is great - we are all looking forward to many more years of the OpenCafe experience.
Our Internet cafe and training projects are generating some income so that we can run all activities - however it is still not enough for running the cafe - we also depend on financial support from outside the cafe.
There are many ways you can support the cafe’s projects - we have set up a
support page - which has some details about all the tasks you can take part in - from event management to web development, software development, graphic design and marketing amongst others.
You can also make financial donations via our support page or visit our Cafepress store for some OpenCafe merchandize.
Since Software Freedom Day and Aardklop is coming up - we need quite a lot of support from OpenCafe fans - so that these events can be a great success - so please contact us if you are ready to help us with organizing the Barcamp and exhibition or if you are up for spending some time at the OpenCafe stand during the festival and explain festival goers all about about Linux, Wikipedia and other projects.

Hi everyone, we set up a wiki to plan our upcoming events.
This September we are organizing our third Software Freedom Day (16 September) - we plan to create a Barcampish atmosphere - with presentations, exhibition, music workshop and more…
We also take part in the local Aardklop festival (26-30 September) click to visit the official festival site. During the festival we will have a gazebo on the festival grounds - where we will be selling our ArtMarketOnline artists’ works - jewelry, paintings, books, CDs - and we also spend time distributing open source / open content CDs.
During the festival we plan to go again to spend a jazzy afternoon listening to the cool sounds of Hugh Masekela and Mafikizolo and many other jazz greats at the Medumo Jazz Fountain - if you are interested to come with us - please mail us.
We also plan to celebrate OpenCafe day on 21 October - so we are in for some goood eventful 2 months.
Have a look at the wiki and make sure you add your ideas - comments - suggestions to the event pages - if you are interested in taking part in planning and organizing the events - please contact us as soon as possible - so that we can get together and come up with some exciting things to do/give away/play/write etc:-) during SFD & Aardklop.
